Zebulon Paul Martin was born 21 March 1915. He was the son of James Clark Martin and Lela Belle Wilkerson. He was married to Blanche Pauline McKinney and father of Norma Jean Martin. He died 24 February 1945 in Duren, Germany

Small Norma Jean Martin of Bluff City, daughter of Staff Sgt. Zebulon Paul Martin, who was killed in action last February 24, recently received the Purple Heart Medal Posthumously awarded her father. It was his second. A son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Martin of 701 Wilson avenue, Sergeant Martin entered the service in 1941, training at Camps in North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and in Arizona. He was a member of Company B, 28th Infantry Regiment, Eighth Division. The soldier was wounded in action in France, July 26, 1944. He received his first Purple Heart Medal after that and in four months returned to his outfit for further service. He was reported missing in action last February 24 but later was listed killed on that date. His parents learned recently Sergeant Martin was buried in Germany, following a Protestant military funeral service.
