Yandell Baxter was born on 10 October 1920, the son of Carroll Lee “Carl” Lunsford and Lora Emmaline Baxter.
He Died non Battle 24 October 1944. He had been in service 34 months and had arrived from overseas just two weeks before his death. A member of the Medical Corps, he served on ships transporting wounded men.

Cpl. Yandell Baxter, age 24, died Oct. 24 of injuries received in an automobile accident Oct. 21. He was stationed at Camp Stoneman, California. He had been in service since March, 1941. The body arrived in Sevierville Sunday morning and was taken to the home of his mother, Mrs. Lora Lundsford, Route 6, Sevierville. Funeral services at the Fowler Cemetery. Survived by his mother, also several brothers and sisters.
