Cpl Herron enlisted on 23 May 1941 at Montgomery in Alabama. He died at Ouachita, Louisiana. He is buried at Herron Cemetery, Hawkins County in Tennessee.

Cpl Willie Herron, on the reader’s right, is shown with his buddy, “Zaz” Sullivan. Willie was drowned last Thursday when the boat in which he was riding, overturned on a lake in Monroe, La. Sullivan is in New Caledonia.

Rogersville – Funeral services will be held Mondat for Cpl. Willie Herron, U.S. Army, who was drowned at Monroe, La., Thursday. The services will be conducted from Hickory Cove Baptist church, with burial in the Herron family cemetery.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Herron of Rogersville.
