The telegram reported the death of Sgt. Clift gave no details. But from its statement that the death occurred “over” Reedham, England, it is assumed that it was the result of an air crash, possibly of a departing or returning bomber. Sgt. Clift is survived by his wife, a son, William Robert Clift Jr., 6 months; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Clift, Clinton, Tenn. He was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School and would have been in service two years in August.
