William Orel Vaughn was the son of Oren and Artha Vaughn. He attended Alvin C. York Institute in Jamestown, Tn.

Corporal Vaughn was serving with B Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry, 199th Infantry Brigade. His tour in Vietnam began on August 29, 1969. He was killed in action in Long Khanh, South Vietnam .

Corporal William Orel Vaughn was returned to his hometown of Jamestown and is buried at Franklin Cemetery, Fentress County, Tennessee. He is honored on Panel 15W, Row 112 of the viet Veterans Memorial.
