Sgt. 1.C. William L. (Bill) Coffey died in Vietnam March 6 of wounds suffered in action Feb. 20, his family in Oneida has been notified. Sgt. Coffey, 27, was born and raised in Scott County. He attended Oneida High School, went into the Army in April 1962 and received his high school diploma after going into the Army. He was a member of Bethlehem (Oak Grove) Baptist Church in Oneida.
He leaves his wife, Phyllis Coffey; two children, Mark, 2, and Michelle, 4; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Coffey, Oneida; a brother, Charles, Oneida and a sister, Mrs. Ella Mae Sexton, Dayton, Ohio.
