Pvt Grubb is buried at Beta Cemetery, Decatur in Meigs County, Tennessee. He was the son of George Dewey Grubb and Gracie Lee Powell.

Athens, Oct. 21 – The body of Pvt. Willard De Wayne Grubb, 22, who died in the station hospital at Camp Lee, Va., Wednesday morning, following a short illness, arrived in Athens this morning. It was removed to the Grubb residence at Big Springs this afternoon. The body was accompanied by a military escort, Pvt. Billy L. Williams, a buddy of young Grubb at Camp Lee. Pvt. Grubb was in the depot supply force of the Army Air Corps. He had been in service since last June.
The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Grubb, Big Springs; sister, Mrs. George Castings Jr., of Cleveland and brother, Kenneth Grubb, U.S. Navy, New Orleans, La., also accompanied the body home. Pvt. Grubb graduated from Tennessee State College, Johnson City in 1942, and was a member of the faculty of Meigs County High School at Decatur during the school year 1942-1943. He was a member of Big Springs Christian Church and teacher in the Sunday School.
