Corporal Furches was born in 1894 in Embreeville, Washington County. He served with the 324th Infantry Regiment, 81st Infantry Division and fought during the Meuse-Argonne offensive. He died of pneumonia on October 26, 1918 at age 24, and is buried at Bumpus Cove Cemetery, Embreeville, Tennessee.
