Luther W. Ward was the son of Aaron Lee Ward en Mattie Gobble of Star Route, Sevierville, TN. He was the brother of Stella Harriet Ward. He enlisted in Ohio.

Pfc. Ward was a veteran of the North Africa and Sicilian campaigns and was wounded June 30 while fighting in France. He entered the service March 6, 1941 and formerly worked at the Hamilton Coke and Iron plant.
