Walter Robert Caton was born on 21 April 1907, the son of Robert Napoleon (Bob) Caton and Lura A. Rector. He married Mae Sams Shelton in 1930 and is the father of Robert Melvyn Caton.

Funeral for Private Walter R. Caton will be at the Chapel of Boyd-DeArmond Funeral Home. Caton’s body arrived in Johnson City this morning. Survivors include, one son, Bobby, of Erwin; a step-mother, Mrs. R.N. Caton, Londean, LaDelle Fla.; two half-sisters, Mrs Stella Caton, Salisbury, N.C., and Miss Frances Caton, Charlotte; three half-brothers, W.G. Caton, Kingsport, Billy and Howard Caton of Charlotte.
