Walter Huskey was born 25 October 1886, Cocke, Tennessee, the son of Henry Clay Huskey and Elizabeth Amanda Sarah Cooper. He married Bertha B Mayes and they had 6 children, Eugene Chapman Huskey, Benjamin E. Huskey, Dorothy Ann Huskey, Bessie O. Huskey, Margaret Beatrice Huskey and Mildred Irene Huskey.

Captain Huskey was a retired Army Officer. He died on 28 July 1943 at a hospital on Kingston Pike, Loudon County, Tennessee of Coronary occlusion. He served overseas during World War I with the 117th Infantry, 3rd Battalion, Supply Company.

Since 1923 he served as a Sergeant with the 81st Division headquarters in Knoxville and received a conditional promotion from first lieutenant to captain in the reserve officers corps in 1938.

Capt. Walter Huskey, 56, retired army captain, died Wednesday at his home, Martel, Tenn. He was a member of West View Baptist Church and Avery Masonic Lodge, Lenoir City.
