Walter G. Lane (also spelled as Lane) was born in Inman, Tennessee in April 1894. He was the son of Richard Layne and Rethie A. McCollum.
Walter Lane served with Company H, 117th Infantry at Camp Sevier in South Carolina. He died at the Base Hospital of Epidemic Cerebro-spinal meningitis.
