Walen McNees was born 26 September 1896, Greene County, Tennessee to Alonzo and Lula Mae McNees. He entered the service on 5 September 1918 in Greeneville, Tennessee and trained at Camp Wadsworth at Spartanburg in South Carolina. Died 8 October 1918 of pneumonia and influenza at Camp Merritt in Hoboken in New Jersey. Cpl McNees is buried at Price Cemetery, Baileyton, Greene County in Tennessee.
