Vestus Kesterson was born June 14, 1897 at Mohawk, Greene County. He was the son of John and Nancy Kesterson and husband of Cassie Lou Voiles. He entered the service on September 5, 1918 at Greeneville and trained in Spartanburg at Camp Wadsworth, South Carolina. Like Arthur N. Bacon, who succumbed two days earlier, he died October 9, 1918 at Base Hospital No. 65 in Kerhuon (Brittany), France of bronchopneumonia. Private Kesterson is buried at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, Mohawk, Greene County, Tennessee.
