Ulys Coker was born in Oliver Springs, TN, son of John Hayes Coker and Lydia M. Winters. He enlisted at Fort Sam Houston in Texas on 2 September 1915. He died of chronic pulmonary tuberculosis on 25 June 1919 at the age of 30.
