Sterling Vaughn also Listed as “Sterlin” was born in Idol, Tennessee, 21 Oct 1895. The son of Geo W. and Martha F. Vaughn. He died of wounds received in action in France 16 Oct 1918 at the age of 22. Under Special Order #64 of 1 September 1921, he was returned to the States and transported by train from New York to Washington, D.C., and then to Idol, Tennessee.
