Shirley James Allen was the son of Clarence Wilson Allen and Edna Katherine Jeans. Private First Class Shirley J. Allen enlisted in the US Army on December 19, 1942 at Camp Forrest, Tennessee. He was a member or the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division and was killed in action on September 18, 1944 in Germany.

Shirley is buried at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial, Henri-Chapelle, Liege Province, Belgium. Plot H Row 6 Grave 55
