Samuel (Sam) Mason Hill was born 12 May 1896, Decatur, Tennessee to J.F. and Martha R. Hill. He entered the service June 23, 1918 at Decatur, Tennessee and received his training at Camp Gordon at Atlanta, Georgia. He sailed to Europe on August 23, 1918 arriving September 7. He arrived in France on 15 September. He died of broncho pneumonia at Condrecourt, France. He was buried at Pisgeh Cemetery at Condrecourt on November 18.
