CPL Rusty Lee Washam was born February 11, 1985, at Fort Bragg NC to MSG Sonny and Beverly (Jeffers) Washam. Rusty joined the Marines June 2003. In 2004 he was sent to Afghanistan serving seven months. In August 2005 he was sent to Iraq and was killed February 14, 2006, by a suicide bomber. Rusty has three sisters, Michelle Washam, Lilly Washam, Misty Day, two brothers, TSGT Donny Washam US Airforce, and SGT Dustin Washam US Army. Rusty has two young sons, Ryan and Andrew Washam. Rusty was given the middle name of his uncle PFC Denny Lee Washam also a Marine Killed in Vietnam December 8, 1968. Both were twenty-one years old when they died.
