Roy Tillman Jaynes Jr. was born in Kentucky on 4 August 1922, the son of Roy Tillman Jaynes and Sarah E. Stonecypher. He married Sara Bell Stuart in 1943 and they had one son, Roy Stuart Jaynes. He had one brother, Donald and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Jaynes. He attended Emory University and was stationed with the Army Air Corps at Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, Cookeville.
He Died non Battle 2 February 1945
2nd Lt Jaynes died of his injuries at Gant, Greenville County, South Carolina due to an aircraft accident. He was a aircrew member (Bombardier) of the U.S. Army Air Forces (B-25C # 41-12465).
