He was the son of Sam V. & Mary Pearl Smith of Rogersville, Hawkins County, TN, and brother of Private Delma Smith.
Roy’s siblings were: Thelma, Alma, Delma, Frances, Hazel, Bobbie, Bitsy, Sam Jr., and Otto Allen.
Sergeant Roy Smith graduated from Rogersville High School in 1940, then entered East Tennessee State. He entered the Army November 5, 1942. After
serving in WWII, he returned to East Tennessee State and received his BA Degree. Roy then served during the Korean Conflict and once again
returned to East Tennessee State to receive his Masters Degree.
Roy is buried at Highland Cemetery in Rogersville, TN, in the Smith Family plot.
