Romie Earl Loy was born 11 December 1916. Son of Paris Lee Loy and Pearl Cleveland Gammon. Brother of Lucile H. Vineyard, Dollie L. Burton, Bessie L. Loy, Elizabeth V. Loy, and J.C. Loy. He married Roxie Kyle in 1939.
Romie enlisted on December 7, 1942, in Fort Oglethorpe, GA. He died on 15 February 1945

Staff Sgt. Romie E. Loy, son of Mrs. Pearl Loy, 2402 Chicago Avenue was killed in action in Germany on Feb. 19 while fighting with Lt. Gen. George S. Patton’s Third Army. His wife, Mrs. Roxie Loy, and son Ronnie Lee are living at 2700 Forrestdale Avenue. Besides his mother and wife, he is survived by a brother, Staff Sgt. John C. Loy, somewhere in England; and four sisters, Mrs. Harold Vineyard; Mrs. Bessie Spoon; Mrs. Elizabeth Vandergriff, all of Knoxville and Mrs. Raymond Burton of Glenmary.
