Robert (Butchie) Mason
Robert arrived in Vietnam and was assigned to the 1st Platoon of Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
It was while the battalion was participating in Operation Kingfisher that Hotel and Echo Companies were engaged by hostile forces, 2 kilometers east of Con Thien (Hill 158). The Marines lost 9 men and LCpl Mason died as a result of a gunshot that penetrate the chest
from hostile small arms fire.
