Robert Crusenberry was born 9 March 1892 in Bristol, Tennessee to John Crusenberry and Dora Richards. Pvt Crusenberry was a farmer before his induction on 13 November 1918 at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Memphis. He died of cerebrospinal meningitis.

The body of Robert Crusenberry, who died overseas, arrived at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Judge Crusenberry, at this place Wednesday. Private Crusenberry having taken ill with a severe case of pneumonia on the boat on the way to France, died in a few days after landing at a hospital in Brest. He was about 27 years of age and leaves besides his parents fourbrothers and four sisters. His body was interred in the Avoca cemetery Thursday.
