Robert “Bob” Allen Springer was born at Chattanooga, Tennessee, the only child of Walter Allan Springer and Ann M. McDonald.

Robert (Bob) Springer was killed in a BT-13A, serial number 41-11232, while at Cochran Field, Macon, Georgia.

Funeral services for Aviation Cadet Robert Allen Springer, who was killed in an airplane crash at Fort Valley, Ga., Monday, will be held at the Brainerd Methodist Church. Springer, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Springer, 225 High Street, was killed while making a routine night flight from Cochran Field, Macon, Ga. He was alone in his plane. Burial with full military honors will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Springer was a member of the Brainerd Methodist Church, Elks Junior Band and a student at Vanderbilt University, where he was a two-year premedical student at the time of enlisting in the army air forces in February. He was vice-president of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, a member of the Owl and Key clubs and the university band and fencing team. While awaiting his call to the army air forces he was laboratory technician at the Volunteer Ordnance Works. He would have completed his basic training in December. Surviving are his parents and grandmother, Mrs. Minnie McDonald, Toledo, Ohio.
