Reed Jasper Gaston was born on 19 January 1925 in McMinn County, TN to Stonewall Jackson “Jack” Gastona and Etta Daily. He had two brothers, Billy and Kenneth Gaston and two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Moore and Dixie Gaston, all of Delano.
He enlisted on 20 April 1943 at Ft Oglethorpe, GA and died 11 August 1944 in France.

The remains of Pfc. Reed J. Gaston, 19, killed August 11, 1944, while in France with the U.S. Army , are expected to arrive in Etowah July 15 and will be taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gaston, in Delano. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon from First Baptist Church of Delano. Military services will be conducted at the graveside.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Billy and Kenneth Gaston; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Moore and Miss Dixie Gaston, all of Delano.
