Raymond Ralph Lovelace was born on 17 September 1912 in Martel, Tennessee. He was the son of John Robert Lovelace and Katie Mae Holland.

Raymond Ralph Lovelace, carpenter’s mate first class has been killed in action somewhere in the Southwest Pacific, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Lovelace of Martel have been notified. He was 28. Mate Lovelace, a TVA employe for nine years, helped with construction of Norris and several other dams. He joined the Navy last Aug. 8 and has been at sea since last November. His last letter to his parents was dated June 28. He is survived by his parents; a son, Bobby Ray, 5, who lives with them, four sisters and three brothers. One brother, Sgt. William R. Lovelace, is in the Army, stationed at Fort Jay, N.Y.
