Raymond Kenneth King, born on 6 June 1910 in Sevierville, Sevier County, Tennessee to Charles Henry King and Martha Maria Butler. He was married to Margaret Maddocks King. He enlisted on 11 February 1942 at Camp Lee in Virginia. He was killed on 3 May 1944 on the Anzio Beachhead in Italy and is buried at Sicily-Rome American Cemtery in Nettuno, Città Metropolitana di Roma Capitale, Lazio, Italy.

Relatives in Buckingham county have received word that Pfc. Raymond King, aged 34, of Farmville, was killed in action on the Anzio beachhead near Naples, on May 3. He was inducted into the infantry in March 1942 and was sent to Italy in January of this year, having previously been on coast guard duty in Maine. He is survived by his wife, Margarette E., formerly of Damariscotta, Maine; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.H. King; one sister, Mrs. Edna Fanche; four brothers, Charles King Jr. Samuel King, Fred King of Sevierville, Tenn., one brother, John King, Wealthea; two aunts, Mrs. Annie Ownsby, Dillwyn and Mrs. Sallie E. Carr, Anthony, Kans. Reared in Tennessee, he came to Virginia in 1936 and spent the remainder of his civilian life farming in Buckingham and Prince Edward counties, where he made a host of friends. He was noted for his courtesy and kindness to every one.
