Ray Henry Ogle was born on 3 February 1922 in Sevierville, Tennessee. He was the son of Jonas Elmer Ogle and Winnie Mae Ownby. He was married to Mary Lee Rector.

Word has been received here by Mrs. Ray H. Ogle of the death of her husband, Pfc. Ray H. Ogle, in Europe. He would have been 23 years old in February. Pfc. Ogle was wounded in action in Germany Dec. 23, and died the following day, according to information received from the War Department. After receiving an honorable discharge from the 117th Infantry, which was mobilized prior to Pearl Harbor, Pfc. Ogle re-enlisted in July, 1942. He was assigned to the Rangers and went overseas the following November. He entered France on D-Day. Besides his wife, the former Miss Mary Lee Rector of Bradley County, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Ogle of Black Fox, in the southern part of Bradley County; four brothers, Fireman 2C Harold J. Ogle, Pvt. Jimmie L. Ogle, U.S. Coast Artillery, now in the South Pacific; Charles Lee and Johnnie Ogle of Black Fox, and a sister, Mrs. James Clark, Kokomo, Ind.
