Ray Gentry was the son of Roderick Butler Gentry and Martha Isabelle Walker.

Sgt. Gentry enlisted in the Army in April, 1947, and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, for his training and later transferred to Fort Lewis, Wash. He was sent overseas in September, 1950, with the 2nd Infantry Division.  He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea.

Funeral services for Sgt. Ray Gentry, 21, son of Mrs. Martha Gentry of Shady Valley, Tenn., who was killed Feb. 14 of this year in Korea, will be held at the Shady Valley Presbyterian Church.
