Members of Hamilton County families, yesterday were reported as war casualties. Wounded was Sgt. Rassie L. Fannin. Sgt. Fannin, former member of the Sixth Cavalry and veteran of seven years’ army duty, has been wounded in action in France and has been awarded the Purple Heart Medal, according to a message received by his wife, Mrs. Geneva Mavity Fannin, 2508 Chamberlain Avenue. Son of Mrs. Victoria Fannin of Copperhill, Tenn., Sgt. Fannin volunteered for army duty at the age of 17, relatives said.

A member of the Sixth Cavalry, Sgt. Rassie L. Fannin, husband of Mrs. Geneva Fannin, 1800 Bailey Avenue, was listed killed in action in Germany March 1. Serving in Germany, France and Ireland, Sgt. Fannin, who entered the army 11 years ago at the age of 17, was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received last October. He is survived by his wife; parents, John Fannin, Copperhill, Tenn., and mother, Mrs. Victoria Fannin, Benton, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Carroll, Cleveland, Tenn.; four brothers, James Fannin, Cleveland; Turner Brewer, Benton; Vernon Brewer, Chattanooga, and Cpl. Hoyt Fannin, who recently returned to the United States after receiving wounds in New Guinea.
