Ensign Powel T. Saterfield, husband of Mrs. Ruby Higdon Saterfield, who has been carried on navy records as missing since March, 1944, is now presumed dead by Navy Department, his wife has been informed. Ensign Saterfield was believed to have been killed in action while on submarine duty in the South Pacific.
A graduate of Central High School, Ensign Saterfield entered the navy in 1935 as an enlisted man and was commissioned during the war. He had been overseas for 30 Months when reported missing. He held two citations from the navy. Mrs. Saterfield and her daughter, Jay, 3, reside at 4402 Tennessee Avenue, St. Elmo.
