Paul Williams was born in 1922 in Tennessee, the son of Frank Williams and Nancy Anders.

He served on the U.S.S. Ranger and was transferred to the U.S.S. Gannett for duty on 14 September 1941. He was reported missing in action on 7 June 1942 and officially declared dead on 8 June 1943.

Paul Williams, son of Mrs. Nancy Williams, with the U.S. Navy is reported missing in action on the Atlantic seaboard, other information has been sent his mother by the Navy Department other than a message of condol-commendation for Paul’s work, from his commanding officer.

Mrs. Nancy Williams has been sent the Purple Heart, posthumously awarded her son, Paul Williams, seaman second class. Paul lost his life while on board ship in the Atlantic area, when it was infested with enemy submarines. With the Purple Heart came a certificate. Mrs. Williams has a other son, Ray, who is in a medical detachment in England, who writes that he likes the country fine, that he has bought him a bicycle and is having lots of fun with it. A third son, Lige Williams, is also overseas, but his present location is not known, and a fourth son, Johnathan, C 1-c, is in the South Pacific.
