Paul Fisher Goodman was born at Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of Jay Solomon Goodman and Hazel Atlas. Husband of Charlotte Ann Zion.

Died 25 August 1942 at Alaska. Officially declared dead on 26 August 1944. Listed on the Tablets of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial Cemetery, Hawaii.

Lt. (jg) Paul F. Goodman, son of Mrs. Jay S. Goodman, 616 Battery Place and the late Mr. Goodman, who has been reported missing in Alaska since Aug. 25, 1942, after he failed to return from a plane flight in that area, is still listed as missing, according to latest reports received from the Navy Department by relatives. Lt. Goodman was personnel officer for a wing squadron of the navy at the time of his last flight from Cold Bay to Kodiak, Alaska, and was listed as missing upon failure to return from that mission.
In 1935, while a senior at Chattanooga High School, he won an alumni scholarship at Emory University, Atlanta. In February of the same year he placed second in the state oratorical forum contest sponsored by the Tennessee Education Association. During his high school career he was a member of the debating team, band, dramatic club and editor of the Maroon and White, school paper. Lt. Goodman attended Emory University in 1935-1936, later transferring to the University of Chicago, where he received a degree in political science in June, 1939. He later took graduate work at the same institution. While at the University of Chicago he was active in student affairs and was a member of the Delta Sigma Rho fraternity, Political Union and the Chapel Union.
He enlisted in the Navy V-7 program in the fall of 1940 and graduated from naval training with honors at Northwestern University in June, 1941. He married Miss Charlotte Zion, formerly of Sheboygan, Wis., and now of Chattanooga, in September, 1941. He is the brother of Henry A. Goodman, student at the University of Chicago, and grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Goodman Sr.
