The War Department has notified Ben White of 106½ Water street, his son, Pvt. Paul E. Whtie, 24, was killed in Italy April 20. The soldier, member of an infantry outfit, had been overseas more than two years, the first one of which was spent in North Africa and the second in Italy. He joined the Army in November, 1942, leaving work as a cab ddriver in Elizabethton. Surviving besides his father are three sister, jean White and Mrs. Mary Bowling, of Elizabethton, and Mrs. Helen Long of Johnson City; a brother, J.N. White, of Elizabethton; six half-brothers, Tom, Homer, Lawrence, Jackie, Bennie and Wilbur White, and his stepmother, Mrs. Emmie White of Johnson City.
