Oaty Lavon Smith was born and reared in Maynardville but went to Knoxville around 1935 where he resided at 725 Luttrell street. He was the son of James Robert Smith and Harriett E. Johnson. He was married to Eula Foust and was the father of Elmer B. Smith. He died after a year’s illness at the Knox General Hospital in Knoxville, TN of tuberculosis.
