Murry Calvin Laster Jr. was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Murry Calvin Laster Sr. and Madeline Marie Moseley. His brother, Tech. Sgt. John M. Laster was killed in New Guinea. The brothers were reared by their aunt, Mrs. Noda Mosier.
S/Sgt Laster was an Armorer-Gunner and died during a routine training flight in a miliary aircraft in Texas.

Staff Sergt. Murry Calvin Laster Jr., son of M.C. Laster of 221 Palisades, died yesterday at Biggs Field, Texas, where he was stationed with the Army Air Forces, his father was notified last night. Details of the death were not given but Mr. Laster said he believed his son died while in flight, either as a result of a heart attack or from lack of oxygen. He was a tail gunner on a Liberator. Sergeant Laster, born here, was graduated from South Side High School in 1937, was a Baptist. He enlisted in the Army in March, 1940, and was transferred to the Army Air Forces about eight months later. Six months ago, he was transferred from Gulf Coast patrol duty to Biggs Field. His brother, Staff Sergt. John M. Laster, is engineer on a Liberator and is based in Australia. Also surviving is his mother Mrs. Madeline Bond of Ranger, Texas.
