Millard Clarence Hood was the son of Charles Adkins Hood and Malissa Evaline Shannon. Millard Hood was an outstanding athlete at Benton High School. Following his graduation he was employed in the Fairfield Shipyard, Baltimore. He entered service August 8, 1944 and was with the Seventh Marines, First Division at the time of his death at Okinawa. He was survived by his father, Charlie Hood, Cleveland; three brothers, Franklin D. Hood and C.A. Hood of Cleveland, and James Lee Hood, Chattanooga; two sisters, Mrs. Ada V. Moore, Alcoa, Tenn., and Mrs. Imogene Frady, Old Fort, Tenn.

He is buried at Dill Cemetery, Oldfort, Polk County, Tennessee.
