Pfc. Meredith Phillips, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Phillips of Oliver Springs, was killed in action in France on Feb. 7, 1945. He was in the Seventh Army and had been overseas four months of the 14 months he was in service.
Pfc. Phillips held the Good Conduct Medal, the Expert Rifleman’s Badge and the Purple Heart was awarded posthumously. He has two sisters and two brothers.
