Lewis Oliver Starr was born in Georgia in 1921, the son of Luther Starr and Sudie B. Lewis. He was reared in Savannah, Georgia and was well known in Chattanooga. He entered the service from Georgia.

Cpl. L.O. Starr, marine, son of Luther Starr, 201 Old Mountain Road, St. Elmo, and the late Mrs. Starr, has been killed in action in the Pacific theater. Cpl. Starr’s late mother was the former Miss Sudie Lewis of Lewis Corner, Gordon County, Georgia.
