Private Lewis B. Bolton was assigned to the 21st Pursuit Squadron, 24th Pursuit Group. At the start of the war the unit was based in the Philippines and with the loss of its aircraft, was eventually part of the defense of Bataan and Corregidor as infantry. He was listed as Died Non Battle on 28 June 1942. He died as a POW of the Japanese Army at POW Camp 1, Cabanatuan 1-2-3, Nueva Province, Luzon, Philippines 15-121 and is listed on the Tablets of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Philippines.
