Leslie (also spelled as Lesley) Matheson was the son of William Clarence Matheson and Cassie Lowe.
He is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery, Philippines
My great maternal uncle, Private 1st Class Leslie L. Matheson, from the Gobey community in Morgan County, Tennessee, was killed fighting the Japanese near the Philippine Islands on October 25, 1944. He was buried at sea. He may have died in the battle of Leyte with the Imperial Japanese Army in the first battle of WWII where the Japanese used Kamikaze pilots.
