Sgt. Lee E. Dobson, husband of Mrs. Ruby H. Dobson, 3915 Pickering Avenue, and a member of an engineer Construction battalion, drowned while swimming near his post on Luzon Island Last Dec. 8, the War Department has informed his wife. A native of Canton, Ga., Sgt. Dobson volunteered for duty in September, 1943; was trained in automotive mechanics and assigned to the 1637th Engineer Construction Battalion, in November, 1944. He served as head of the battalion machine shop during campaigns in Europe and the Pacific, going to the latter area in August, 1945. In the Pacific section he participated with his outfit in several important missions and was rated outstanding among men in his company, according to his superior officers. Holder of the European and Pacific theater ribbons and one battle star, Sgt. Dobson was a resident of Chattanooga before entering the service. His wife is employed at the Topps Gum Company in Chattanooga. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Ruby Henson, Dunlap, Tenn.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Dobson, Canton; three sisters, Mrs. G.L.Thornton, Atlanta; Mrs. Frank Washington, Calera, Ala.; Miss Marguerre Dobson, Canton, and a brother, W.B. Dobson Jr., Atlanta.
