Lawrence Bayless was the son of Harrison Bayless and Minnie Hall. He was married to Fannie Kibble
Private First Class Lawrence Bayless was assigned to the 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. At the time of his death the Division was involved in fighting at the Prum River, Germany, forcing a crossing. He was killed in action on 1 March 1945 and is interred at H,15,8 Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Henri-Chapelle, Belgium.
