Kenneth Raymond Thompson was the son of Jesse Alverine Thompson and Sophronia Marie Billings.
Kenneth was born in Athens, McMinn County, Tennessee on 26 September 1914. He was living at 327 South Main Street, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California when he enlisted in the United States Army on 13 February 1942 at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, California. Kenneth listed his sister (Cecile Margaret “Marjorie” Thompson Vettore) as his next of kin in Johnson City, Washington County, Tennessee.
Ken hit Omaha Beach, Dog Green First Wave as a Sergeant with A Company, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. He made it off the beach with some of the Bedford Boys, but was killed on 25 June.
