K.C. Patterson served on the U.S.S. Lang (399) and was transferred to the U.S.S. Walke (DD416) on 16 December 1941. The USS Walke was sunk in Naval Battle of Guadalcanal on 15 November 1942.
K.C. Patterson was offficially declared dead on 16 November 1943 and is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery, the Philippines
