Sgt. Joseph Henry Lee died in Germany May 13 according to word received by his wife from the war department June 4. Sgt. Lee died from cervical fracture received in dive into swallow water. He had been overseas for 26 months at the time of his death. He was with the 505th Parachute Inf.
S-Sgt. Lee leaves his wife, Carrie Lutrick Lee, one daughter, Georgia Ann, his father, Rev. J.W. Lee of Baton Rouge, his brothers, Johnnie, of Beaumont, Texas, Clarence of Liberty, Texas, Wilson of U.S. Navy, Norman of U.S. Navy, Bill of the Army, his sisters, Mrs. D.L. Hill of New Orleans, Mrs. Georgia Gillespie of Kingsport, Tenn. And a host of friends. Memorial service will be held at the Baptist church in Grayson Sunday July 22 at eleven o’clock.
