Joseph Algner Neal Jr. was the son of Joseph Algenon Neal and Mary Ellen Terry.
He was a Second Lieutenant with the Army Air Corps and was killed in a midair collision, in rural Pima County, Arizona, while piloting BT-14, #40-1219.

Among the 230 flying cadets entering the third phase of their army air corps training is Joseph A. Neal, jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Neal of 308 Clifton Terrance. The group spent ten weeks at one of the eighteen civil flying school under air corps supervision, learning fundamentals, and then weeks at Randolph field, Texas, building up seventy hours flying time. The phase they are entering now is at the advance flying schools, Kelly field, Texas; Montgomery, Ala., and Stockton, Cal.
