First Sergeant Joe David Jones was born July 23, 1928 to William Joe Jones and Francis Louella Moore and died non-battle November 6, 1953.

The Newport Times, November 14, 1951:
Joe David Jones, killed in a car accident on Tuesday of last week in Hoxie, Kansas, was buried in Union Cemetery with full military honors. The body of the Korean veteran was due to arrive in Newport early today (Monday) and services were conducted at the Second Baptist Church.
Jones, who is a holder of the Bronze Star for his action overseas, plus several other important medals and citations, died with his wife and another soldier. He only recently spent a furlough in Newport with relatives and friends, immediately after returning to the United States from Korea.
Survivors include parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Joe Jones; brother Charles Williams; sisters, Mrs. Glenn Ellison, Peggy Ann and Joyce Moore of Newport.
