John Harrison “Harry”Franklin was born on 28 November 1920, the son of John Harrison Franklin and Hassie N. Curry.

The remains of  Lt. John Harrison Franklin Jr., son of John Harrison Franklin Sr., will arrive in Morristown on the Tennessean and will be taken to Stetzer Funeral Home where they will remain until the time of the funeral. Interment in Jarnagin Cemetery. The VFW will meet the train and will have charge of the services at the grave.
Lt. Franklin, 24 years of age, graduated from Morristown High School in 1940 where he was notable both in football and in track. He entered Clemson College, South Carolina, where he remained until he entered the service June 14, 1943. He had been selected to serve as captain of the Clemson football team the ensuing year.  Following his death he was made honorary captain. Taking his basic training at Fort Knox., he took further training at Fort Benning, Ga., and at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma. He left for overseas service late in November, 1943, landing in Marseille, France to participate in the Battle of the Bulge when killed in action on December 30th, 1944. He was buried in the military cemetery at St. Avoid, France.
Surviving are the father, and five sister, Mrs. John R. Sheffey of Elizabethton, Mrs. Jack Alderson of Bristol, Mrs. John J. Anderson of Morristown, Mrs. Kyle K. Bruce of Morristown and Miss Helen Baker, Dayton, Tenn. Also surviving are two brothers, Powell Franklin of Morristown and Kenneth Rawlings of Sevierville.

Funeral services for Lt. John Harrison Franklin Jr., whose death occurred in France on December 30th, 1944, will be held at Stetzer Chapel. Interment in Jarnagin cemetery. Lt. Franklin was the son of John Harrison Franklin Sr., of Morristown, who survives together with five sisters and two brothers.
